Site Plug: Once Upon A Geek
I was browsing around Once Upon A Geek, which has a lot of amusing superhero content. For example, I liked this blending of Peanuts and the Watchmen.

They also collected some interesting Christmas-themed covers. Below the jump: Spiderman lassoing a surly Wolverine with Christmas lights, and two shots of Santa packing heat.

I love the interaction between Spidey and Wolverine. Wolverine’s expression is great.

This was delightfully cheesy. No, I wouldn’t pay money for it.

The original Bad Santa? I love the Have a Nice Day tag in the corner.
It’s not bad but I have a few site design recommendations.
1. The top of the page is not very accommodating to first-time viewers. The header tells us that Once Upon a Geek is a “a blog for the Irredeemable Shag.” I don’t think that’s a persuasive tagline. I’d recommend replacing that with a sentence describing what the blog focuses on: mostly Star Trek and superhero stuff, from what I can tell.
2. The sidebar could probably be used to organize the content a bit better. On similar sites, I’ve found links to popular series of articles very helpful. That’s a good way to introduce new readers to your best content.
3. One thing I really liked about the sidebar was that it had a blogroll for sites it highly recommended and another blogroll for more qualified recommendations. Long blogrolls can be effective, but I find that it helps to distinguish the best sites from ones from the filler.
Cadet – Thanks for all the feedback. I’m not really much of an expert on design, so your comments were taken to heart. I’ve updated the top of the page and added a plug-in which displays popular posts.
Thanks for the suggestions. Hope you like the content on the site.

The new tagline is an improvement.
