Writing a comic book script? Check this out…
This comic book artist gives writers a few suggestions about how to lay out the story. I found it very useful.

- The Batman: what were they thinking (1.5 stars out of 5)
That was rather helpful. In my quest to add to my list of unfinished writing projects, I’m working on a comic script. I’m only at the outlining stage now, but those comments helped me identify something I was planning to do that would have been bad.
I’m not sure if I have done any of those things, but I don’t think I have. I suspect I’ll be a little lenient with my artist, being an artist myself. I can understand where they’re coming from.
If the artist has an idea to make a page better, by all means make it better.
I’ll be sure to watch out though. I constantly get bothered by ideas of new comics I want to do, haha. My latest is the heist story. It’s about androids that appear to be teenagers that led a previous life as killing machines, spies, maybe heroes (I’m not sure yet) that they don’t remember. They have to work their way into the heavily fortified facility, get bits of information, face opposition from people from their previous lives that they don’t remember, and ultimately, have one shot at getting their memories back.
“If the artist has an idea to make a page better, by all means make it better.” I think that’s a very healthy and professional attitude.
I’m not quite there yet. For example, when Banu did the sketch of the cover, the first thing I noticed was that the bobbleheads weren’t in a straight line! Even though I could see Banu’s edit was clearly an improvement over my original plan, I instinctively got annoyed that he had changed my plan. This is definitely something I’ll have to work on.
