Two main updates today. I’ll start with the more obvious one and finish with the vastly more important one.
Visual Redesign
As you might have noticed, the site looks a lot different now than it has in the past few weeks. In fact, the site’s appearance has been changing a lot– you’re not going crazy!– but this is more or less what it will look like for the foreseeable future.
The single most memorable change is that now I have a custom header, the heavily cropped strip that features part of the faces of Agent Orange (left) and Catastrophe (right). I like Catastrophe’s look a lot better here– I felt that I had to include Orange’s glasses, which meant that I couldn’t really zoom in so much on his eyes. Furthermore, the quality of the Orange shot was much lower. Its pixellation was also less precise, which meant that it got pretty gross when expanded to fit the shot.
Within the next month, I may touch up the Catastrophe shot (the penciled lines near his larger eye are especially annoying me) or I may even see if I can commission some works that are probably vastly superior to what I could make. (I wonder what I could get for $20).
Best Investigator Version 2.0!
I have FINISHED the overhaul of the first story in the novel, Best Investigator in the World. Hopefully, this newer version will establish the world better and be easier to understand. Each of the five reviewers I’ve asked so far have liked the improvements. Two even used the phrase “vastly better” or “vastly superior” in their critiques.
If you’ve read one of the older versions of Best Investigator, I think it would be worth your time to read at least to the point where Lash meets Agent Orange for the first time. If you haven’t read a version of Best Investigator yet, what are you waiting for? It’s about half of the total work I’ve put into this project so far!
